19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his first championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His defensive play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent saved four early break points in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
