Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.
Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
