Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Police then located many other marked cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.
An important representative commented the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in 2020.
